Kitchen Renovations in Calgary

A kitchen renovation affects the whole household, so the planning matters as much as the build. Layout, storage, lighting, electrical capacity and the sequence of trades all need to be settled before demolition.

TrustBuilt Canada renovates kitchens from targeted upgrades to full layout changes, coordinating the work so your home is disrupted for as short a time as practical.

Scope of work

What a kitchen renovation involves

  1. 01

    Layout & design decisions

We review how you use the space (work zones, seating, storage and traffic) and confirm whether walls, plumbing or appliances will move before pricing the work.

  2. 02

    Demolition & preparation

Careful removal of existing cabinets, counters and finishes, with dust control and protection for the rest of the home.

  3. 03

    Construction & rough-ins

Framing changes, electrical for lighting and appliances, plumbing relocation and ventilation are coordinated and inspected as required.

  4. 04

    Installation & finishing

Cabinetry, countertop installation, backsplash, flooring, trim and paint are installed and finished to the agreed standard.

Cabinets are set, levelled and fastened before the countertops are measured, so the tops fit the boxes that are really there.

Before you renovate your kitchen

Decide what moves

Keeping the sink, range and fridge where they are usually saves cost. Moving them can transform a kitchen. It just needs to be decided early.

Removing a wall

Opening up a kitchen often means removing a wall. If that wall is load-bearing, it needs an engineered solution and a permit before anything comes down.

Lead times

Cabinetry, counters and specialty appliances can have long lead times. Ordering early keeps the construction phase short.

Living through it

Plan for a period without a working kitchen. We'll talk through sequencing so you know when the disruption starts and ends.

A clear path from first call to final walkthrough

Every project follows the same five stages, so you always know what's happening now and what comes next.
  1. 01

    Initial Consultation

A conversation about your goals, the space, your timeline and a realistic budget range. If it's a fit, we arrange a site visit.

  2. 02

    Project Assessment

We look at the space in person (existing conditions, structure, mechanical and anything that affects scope) and take the measurements we need.

  3. 03

    Proposal & Planning

You receive a written proposal with scope, exclusions, schedule and pricing. Selections, permits and trade sequencing are settled before work starts.

  4. 04

    Construction

Work proceeds to the agreed plan, with a protected, tidy site and regular updates. Any change to scope or cost is discussed and approved before it happens.

  5. 05

    Final Walkthrough

We walk the finished project with you, address any items on the list, and hand over the information you need for the space.

Questions

Kitchen Renovations: common questions

Don't see your question? Ask us directly.

Do I need a permit for a kitchen renovation in Calgary?

Cosmetic updates often don't, but structural changes, new electrical circuits, plumbing relocation and gas work typically require permits. We'll identify which apply to your plans.

Can I supply my own cabinets or appliances?

Often, yes. Let us know during planning so we can confirm dimensions, delivery timing and installation responsibilities in the proposal.

What affects the cost of a kitchen renovation?

The biggest factors are layout changes, cabinetry and countertop selections, electrical and plumbing work, and the size of the room. A written proposal breaks the scope down so you can see where the budget goes.

Can you open my kitchen to the living room?

In many homes, yes. Whether the wall is load-bearing and what runs through it (ductwork, plumbing, wiring) determines the approach and cost. We assess that before quoting.

How long does a kitchen renovation take?

It depends on how much is changing — keeping the layout is faster than moving plumbing or walls — plus permit timing and lead times on cabinets and counters. Your proposal sets out a schedule, including how long you'll be without a working kitchen.
